Trauma Informed Practice

“Trauma is not what happens to us but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness” Peter Levine

What does it mean to be traumainformed?

Where there are people there is trauma and organisations committed to the wellbeing of their staff and clients must also understand trauma and its impact. A Trauma-informed, resilience-oriented approach means having an organisational culture and structure built on understanding and compassion, recognising and responding to all kinds of trauma.

Staff Wellbeing Solutions can work with you to embed in policy and practice the principles of TIRO (Trauma Informed Resilience Orientated Practice). The principles of a TIRO approach look to build and strengthen organisational culture, policy and practice in the following areas;

  1. Safety
  2. Trustworthiness and transparency
  3. Peer support
  4. Collaboration and mutuality
  5. Empowerment, voice and choice
  6. Cultural issues
